These vessels were inspired by the outline of a fictitious city, with the imaginary cityscapes bringing animation to otherwise simple forms. A golden metallic glaze was applied to the exterior of the vessels, referencing a city skyline that reflects the sun’s glow at sunrise and sunset. A turquoise glaze was applied to the interior to contrast with the exterior colour and refers to the holding of water within.

about the artist
Jane McKenzie is an Australian artist currently based in
Castlemaine, Victoria. Her sculptural work has evolved from a life-long preoccupation with making art and a parallel architectural career.
