“My Onishi Vase design was first realised while I was on residency in Japan and presents a sculptural vessel with spaces throughout the body in which to showcase a single stem. Flower and vessel become a combined sculptural piece. With the addition of a wall sculpture for this pairing I created a shape that would “arc” above the Onishi Vase, framing it and adding yet another element to the overall sculptural assembly. Both pieces are glazed in black - one in a dry, matte finish and the other in a textured, glossy finish” - Kerryn Levy

Kerryn Levy is a ceramic artist living and working on Kaurna land (Adelaide), South Australia.


Using Australian clay and various hand-building techniques, Kerryn makes sculptural vessels reminiscent of human, animal and botanical bodies that nestle and dance with one another when paired or grouped, their surfaces designed to reflect the colours and textures of the Australian landscape.
